Calcium Reactor

Can a canister be used / modified as a calcium reactor ? ... I am upgrading from a canister to a sump ... kinda waste if i were to put aside the canister in the store room...

can anyone advise how to do it ... if it is possible ?

what i need to buy ?

where the water intake from and output to ?

Might not be pssible, as in a CR, you need water constantly recirculating within the CR to saturate with Co2 and dissolve the media. In a cannister, even you you fit an adaptor to the intake tube and feed in CO2 thru the line, the CO2 will go thru the impellor only once and then flow thru the media and out via the output hose, wasting a lot of CO2 and not achieving good reaction with the media.

Too add on to riot, when i was into planted tank, people also advice not to use the canister as "CO2 defuser" as the bubble collected in the top of the canister, where the prop is will soon spoil with too much air and less water.

How about using the old canister as a liquid reactor for rowaphos, contraphos or carbon ?

IMHO, that will work better than juz dumping the stuff into bags into ur sump. but not as well as a FR.
