SPS are not cheap

SPS is not just about the cost of 1 or 2 colonies

let's do an objective breakdown on the real cost involved....we can take this opp. to share with one another what is really involved:

First: Not About Money

1) A lot of Knowledge needed a& study put into the proper reef-keeping of them

2) A LOT MORE knowledge on the maintanance of water parameter (Ca, dkh.....)

3) LS compatibility (corals & Fish) (e.g. toxic and nibbing fish)

4) Lighting requirements (e.g. 150......tend to brown out)

5) Currents (e.g. insuffcient = rtn, too much = tissue blown away)

6) Temp Requirement (too hot...rtn faster than you know how to spell rtn)

7) Time

2nd: About $$$

1) ideal lights: T5s and above, MH would be 250W and above..

imagine running 500w to 1600w MH on top of your tank...more recuring $$$$...

2) Light = heat = chiller --> running time and capacity(horsepower)$$ :shock:$$

3) Ca Reactor to help hold the Ca level

4) VEry good skimmer..if running a beckett....even more $$$$

5) of course, those exp. sps colonies...spend more $$$$$ again

Basically...I feel that there is a lot involved in the whole deal of keeping these candy sticks ;)
