i'm using CL650 for my tank.

My tank: 250L - 2ft cube + 1.5ft sump

Light: 150MH, 2 X 20W actinic

Pumps: total: 180W (ext. mounted)

on/off: 2 -3 x an hour @ 25 degrees when lights on

1 x an hour @ 25 degrees when lights off

Very powerful IMO for the cost of it. but the temp controller can be improved, fixed delta at 2 degrees. <_< and not very accurate

if U have the extra $$ to spare get another temp controller to have a more accurate adj. temp. Still saving up for mine

Not too noisy as well, abt same as an aircon unit. Mine is mounted outside the house so lots of air circulation (v. v. impt)

Got mine just below $600 :yeah:

CL-650 1/4

220V/50HZ

R134A

REFRIGERATING CAPACITY: 650 W

RECOMMENDED TANK SIZE

(Set temperature22℃)(L) <650(<172USg)

RECOMMENDED TANK SIZE

( Set temperature25℃)(L) <1000(<264USg)

wt: 21 kg

thanks people ...

ZeRoCool, yours is the newer batch of CL650 or the older one? it is the noise level that i am concern.

as you mentioned, on/off: 2 -3 x an hour @ 25 degrees when lights on and 1 x an hour @ 25 degrees when lights off sounds alright to me.

as for the temp, i was talking to my friend days ago, he can help me to buy a temp controller and modify it so much so that it allows me to control the start and off temp that i set. (example, when temp reach 27degC the chiller run, and when it cool down to 24degC the chiller stop...) controller cost about S$100 odd..

the LFS at Yishun is selling for S$550 (CL650) but only one month warranty... and i know another LFS is selling lower that this price but NO warranty.

LR :thanks:

how far apart is your chiller from the tank? using a lot of pipe length?

Mine is the new batch. black colour samea s in the website

Dist from tank to chiller: 3m only. my tank is placed next to the wall that my chiller is mounted. hope can understand, i dun know how to explain. my tank inside of house, wall, then my chiller outside house

no much piping, using alot of hose. Haven buy the insulating cover yet (like aircon ducts)

$550 - 1mth?!?! er.

Mine slightly under $600 but 1yr warenty :erm:

Controller abt same price

er, my tank only 250L ~ 66 US Gal So my chiller is really over rated.

Going for 250W or maybe 400W. still thinking no money

my tank 3x2x2 + sump 2.5x1.8x1.8 but total water hold should be about 372liters.

i heard CL650 is for 650liters (some say 800liters). do you all think its alright using CL650 ??

ZeRoCool, yours turn on/off:

2-3 x an hour @ 25 degrees when lights on, and

1 x an hour @ 25 degrees when lights off ...

how long it is turn on each time ? 10mins ?

bwilly how about your friend's 1/2hp on twice a day each time run for how long?

thanks in advance for feedback hor ... i am trying to gather as much experienced information so to make an informed choice on buying a chiller... :D

CL650 is a 650watts unit = 0.650kW.

run 5mins for every 10min frequency

= 30mins total running per hr

= 12hrs total per day

Electricity charges S$0.1580 per kWh

Electricity bill per day = 12 x S$0.1580 = S$1.896

Electricity bill per month = S$58.77

S$58.77 monthly is only for the chiller ... still not consider pumps, lights, etc

i think that is expensive running the CL650... anyone agree ?? :(
