Where to buy a resun chiller ?

Hi i finally got the budget to go buy a chiller .. thinking of getting a resun . anyone with comments on it ? And where to buy it ?

is 1/3 okie for a 3ft by 3ft by 2.5 ft tank ?

Do factor in the heat generated by MHs if you are going for such kind of lightings...

Think 1/3 would be lacking for a reef that size.......

The name of the road is called 'fang choon' road, in Guang Zhou, it is a wholesale centre for fishes, plants, birds.... very big place. Just tell the taxi driver u r going to fang choon road where there r a lot of fishes( not the eating ones). there got super cheap pro canister, chiller (resun too)and mh.

Having previously seen demo of bith resun n hailea, resun is slightly noisy than hailea. In terms of design its also uglier. However resun pricing is slightly cheaper than hailea.

If you are sleeping with the chiller in the room.. I think so..

But if it's somewhere else, you'll grow into the hum it produce..

How near are the MH to your watersurface?

Someone just PM me and mention that his chiller running like almost all the time.. You have to get a PH to suit your chiller... Running water thru your chiller fast dunn mean they will cool the water fast! Got to be slow enough for the water to chill and then pump back out.. check your chiller specs..

Clementi blk 328... selling Resun chiller. From my experience Resun is noisy bcoz of the fan.

farm mart sells resun chillers as well.. quite cheap i guess. i juz installed one actually... 1/10hp (cl300) for my 3ft tank and it's working quite well. no complaints abt fan if it's inside a cupboard. able to cool down the water quite quickly as well. worth the buy!

Calculate the total volume of your reef and sump.....

your main reef of 3 by 3 by 2.5 should come close to 500 - 600 litres....

add the volume of your sump....... (should be another 150 - 200 litres) since you are going for a 3 footer..

factor in heat generated by PHs, pumps....coupled with MHs......

Then check the capacity the chiller can handle..... the differential temp ( the amount of temp change with regards to total volume of water)...eg... Teco RA680 (1/2 HP) can cool water up to 1200 liters by 5 C....

Just let you know that water temp can rise easily to 35C using MHs....

Heat generated by MH's very high......enough to leave burn marks on your skin if you would touch one accidentally during its operation....

i think its not advisable to place the chiller in the cupboard considering the amount of heat generated, its like putting your fridge/air-con in the cupboard, worst still if it is enclosed. apart from the noise, i think the effectiveness of the cooling is good +- 2 degree.

Roughly how much do u expect your electricity bill to increase by using a 1/3 hp chiller. think of getting one but dunno can tahan the bill or not

i am not too sure as i am going to be having 2MH 250w light plus pumps but u can follow this caculation for ur bills

Just add up your wattage in hours.

eg. let says you have a MH running at 150 watts, you turn it on for 10 hours and a pump running at 30 watts for 24 hours.

150 watt x 10 hrs x 30 days= 45000 wh

30 watts x 24 hrs x 30 days= 21600 wh

So Singapore power rate is in $0.1524 per kwh.

total wattages = 45kwh + 21.6kwh = 66.6 kwh

Electrical cost = 66.6 x 0.1524 = $10.1

Hope you could figure it out.
