Plankton multiply too slow

Hi All,

Need advise from the experts out there.

I setup my Plankton culture station last Sunday (31 May). Brought the cultured disk $34 and fertilizer $16 from Reborn. After 4 days of bubbling and 16 hrs of light everyday, there is hardly any sign of Plankton multiplying.

I prepared my culture medium using boiling water cooled for 24hrs and mix with salt at 1.02

What is wrong with it ?

If by the 5 day you do not see it turning more yellowish or darker, and instead its clear, it means your culture has crashed.

Its very very hard to start with a culture dish. It greatly depends on where you bought your dish and how they store it.

could be the lighting?

if u r using FL, is ur lights daylight?

did u place ur lights too far? it shld be placed within 1~2 inches

I am using 1 ft FL light place < 1 inch from the bottle.

Could it be the light is not strong enough ? Hope it does not crash if not gone with my $34....

The light is too close to your culture bottle. The heat from the light probably boil the phytos away. I placed mine abt 3 inch away from the light source.
