Realistically speaking, T5 tubes have a max livespan of nine months to one year on normal eballast and six-nine months on an Icecap ballast. After that, it will be a waste of electricity as light output decreases to too low a level.

? I read somewhere that they can last up to 2 years!

i thk we r the best to judge for ourselves the safest way is to observe your corals behaviour have a couple of spare T5 at home and once you notice tat your corals are not reponding well...quickly change to the spare T5 that u have faithfully kept inside your store room

If it is for commercial application, it will last up to two years without flickering or not lighting but for aquarium wise the drop in intensity will have a detrimental effect on the corals. You will be pumping in the same wattage for less light, so it is less efficient too.

ehh dodo. are u using 40w eballast for ur 39w T5?

yesterday i pass by sinter . they say 39w T5 need another special type of eballast.

It cost around $10-$20.

i called sinte...anyway...they got no idea why my T5 is 39w....they keep telling me standard T5 is 35w :wacko: they keep telling me there isn't 39w T5 in the market in order not to argue wif them futher, i jus keep quiet i wish to ask u guys some questions abt eballast
