Protein skimmer

Hello guys!

Have been keeping freshwater fishes for 10 years now and was thinking of trying saltwater. I have a 2.5ft tank and I am thinking of putting live rocks and a protein skimmer as a means of keeping the water clean. I was thinking this would be all that is needed as I was planning to stock with 3 clownfishes, 1 wrasse, cleaner shrimp and anemone.

But I went to a marine shop and the owner told me I definitely need a filter for example, a cannister or a hang-on filter (Jebo hang-on ###### protein skimmer) for it to work out. :erm:

Sort of confuse now. Please enlighten me guys. Thank!!! :thanks:

Regards,

Sam

haha.. maybe they wan to clear the jebo skimmer stock that's why they suggested that. Well, a filter will be needed for ur 2.5ft tank. Some of us here uses a sump which save the hassle of washing the whole cannister, and cannister is well known as nitrate factory. So if possible, get a sump. And to kick start, a weipro skimmer will be good and cheaply available in our forum and local fish shops. And rem, anemone also need strong lighting. As for lighting, other bros can help, cos i dun keep anemone as once they got stuck in the powerhead.. :fear: all the best in reefing. :)

Everything's sold. Back in 2yrs time.

Haha! Poor anemone :( , must be quite adventurous to move around in the tank.

Hmm... In the end I just went with a hang-on filter. As it is my first tank I would be just trying things out. Would be getting a good skimmer when I set-up a 4ft in the future and perhaps a sump definitely.

Sam
