Something killed my Hermit

hi, just noticed just now when feeding my fishes, my hermit like got killed while molting, my tank is a got 2 false clown, 1 cleaner n 2 snails only, who could have killed it ? :cry::cry2: how do i make sure it does not happen again?

Have this problem B4 but few days later it will ok.

SBS, ya agree with ReeF loVer, me also experienced b4. just duno from no where

the hermit crab turns alive again, do not throw away the shell just leave it for a day or so and observe. :lol:

Previous Tank 3 x 2.5 x 2 ft since year 2005. 23 Jan 2009 fully decom my 3ft. Now only left 24"x14"x16" and I am very happy cos can see all my fish in near range.. haha

dun be too sure... it took me 3-4 months before i saw a mantis shrimp in my tank... and my tank was only 2 feet!

Yep. You can say that.

I have a mantis shrimp in my tank for close to 9 months and I still cannot find where it is hiding.

One night cannot sleep so took a torch to look at my tank, saw a 4 - 5 inch fire worm too.

If you are sure it is not mantis, than I think you should look into supplementing iodine. Iodine will help with the moulting process and thus prevent the hermit from suffocated by it own exo-skeleton. Also, it is adviseable to thow in a couple of empty shell in case your hermit grows too big for its existing shell.

hey pple u know what ? this morning i saw that the "body" in the tank is gone, dont know what happen to it but, the shell also moved, so i pic up the shell, n guess what, its inside, so happy to see it alive :yeah: , i think its the old skin, but it really looked alot like the body :lol: , thanks for all those advice everyone !

Good to hear it is alive. I guess it just have some difficulty moulting. Thus I will suggest you supplementing your tank with some iodine if you have not done so.
