How to get rid of macro algae from my LR

Dear reefers,

I was wondering whether there is a way of supressing the growth of macros on my live rock. Two of my live rocks recently have culerpa springing out like noboby's business. I have tried bring them out of the tank and plucking out as many as I can but after a couple of weeks, it came back again.

I am quite reluctant on throwing both LR away cuz they are beautifully encrusted with coralines. Please help.

Buy a very hungry yellow tang if your tank is large enough to support one. Works every time!

dump the 2 LRs with macroalgae in ur refugium if u hv 1.

Worse come to worse no choice loh. But really like their shape and the thick coralines. Sigh.......

How about hermits?

They eat macro algae also, right?

The red legged hermit I had only eat hair algae and stay away from culerpa.

Just trim it once it a while, some macroalgae wouldnt hurt your tank, in fact, aren't they known to be great nitrate exporters? I have many types of macroalgae growing in the tank, also need lots of trimming..

Thanks for the advises bro. From what I have read in both Eric Boneman & Anthony Calfo's books, they have discourage the growth of caulerpa in the main display due to the fact that caulerpa will release toxic that inhibit coral growth.

I think, I will just remove tham la. No point sacrificing my corals for two live rock. :-)
