giantbicycle
Hi, as above, i have just bought my New MH250watt From Gloden Tooth.. But the reason in when i switched it on, There is lots and lots of reflection in the tank and everywhere near it..Eg:walls, celling, tank walls ...ETC.. Why is this so...It makes me so so so so so Dizzy ..... I am sick of it... Its like, the reflection of the swimming pool.... Why is this so....Makes me feel like puking, vomiting ...the whole tank is like vibrating by the reflection....the sandbed, glass wall,corals,Everything...and even the surrounding walls around my tank.... after switching it on for half a day, i decided to off it ...and on my PL lights instead..But why is this so, Its nothing to do with the lights so Gloden tooth if u are reading this, the lights is very good..But wads the cous of this is it my water level too low???? GOSh!!!! i am dizzy after seeing it....Will appereciate very very much if some1 can advice,...BTW, the MH is 250watt ,BlV 10,000K ..Nothing is wrong with the lights... SRC Member ryz Posted May 30, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 30, 2004 u have a hood? put the MH just above the hood so that the hood can block off some of the light and the light won't be shining into your eyes when standing in front of the tank... MH is light that one... actually any bulb that emits light from a point source will cause such rippling reflection... I actually love it.. haha... anyway u planning to keep SPS?? if not 250W a bit overkill as it is very hot and too intense for some softies and LPS... How much u bougt it for?(pm me price) Quote Live and Let Live

SRC Member ervine Posted May 30, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 30, 2004 Good to know that you managed to get ur MH to work... My 250W MH also illuminates my room, don't use a hood but I do have a black card that shields my seat from the MH, other than that it's the main source of lighting for my room (since I don't need that much light anyways).. don't worry you'll get used to it... SRC Member typrobin Posted May 30, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 30, 2004 that;s the magic of MH....it will create wave like reflections similar to the sun sprayin on the sea.... if u dun like, i exchange my 150W with u loh....less intensity thus less reflection... SRC Member JustinK Posted May 31, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 31, 2004 Yeah, you will get used to it... hopefully.. mine creates the rippling effect in my room too, but i kind of like the effect. Nothing much you can do about it actually because its caused by the intensity of the light source... maybe a 150W will help reduce the shimmering effect, but you will still get it somewhat.. you can try the hood you have to see if it helps, it may help to reduce the spread of the stray light. pros and cons of MH

giantbicycle
U mean the glare? U saw how it works in my tank. Why the ? relax bro..........Its much better now....I think yar.its the magic of MH...I dont get used to it but soon will .. not actually the glare, i dont know how to say but its actually the ripping effect like swimming pool like that... But i am okiee with it today...It is totally different from your tank, i think my tank is too empty , less LR's , LS and all sand so the light will reflect so badly..But your light set u sold me is perfect...VERY solid...GOOD... No regrets at all..I just need to get used to it, from a sudden change of a PL70watt and a T5 78watt..to a 250watt Mh + T5 78 watt, Thats a lot of different. All my corals ar much happier then before..so THANKS for the MH ...good..THANKS..
