how to rid brown sponge in tank

HI folks,

I have got small brown patches of nuisance sponge growing on the tank wall.

Anyone have experience of this and knows how to rid the tank of it ?

Of course I can scrap it off the tank..... But my worry is after my scraping,

the sponge material will disperse in the tank and introduce rotting materials into the

tank.

Any other ideas ?

a little crude IMO
