Phosphates affect SPS?

Recommended Posts

Phosphates much more detrimental than low nitrates. Always get your phosphate levels to 0. Excess phosphate levels will inhibit calcification and also promote the growth of nuisance algae which will smother the coral.

Always something more important than fish.

Yup... using rowaphos, added about 600-700grm about 3 months ago, should i discard it and put in new media like rowaphos/biophos? tot of using biophos as it's cheaper... :)

used to feed 2 cubes of frozen BS and GPs.... has stopped GPs as i'm told it's not neccessary... feeding a little frozen spinach everyday now, and 1 or 2 cubes of frozen BS....

Trying to train my fishes to eat pellets as i'm told it's more nutritious, izit true?

Sometimes, keeping your fish happy with regular feeding and maintaining pristine water conditions for your sps is a challenge.

To get your phosphate levels down, try feeding less. And yes, replacing your Rowaphos media may be a good idea.

Depending on your bioload, a "beckett" may be in order. :P
