Does this help to shorten New tank cycle period?

:D Went to Bio Ocean today and was browsing through the bottles of chemicals and found out that there is a bottle from Seachem called Stability™.

Did a small research at Seachem website about this product and below is what it promise....

Stability™ will rapidly and safely establish the aquarium biofilter in freshwater and marine systems, thereby preventing the #1 cause of fish death: "new tank syndrome". Stability™ is formulated specifically for the aquarium and contains a synergistic blend of aerobic, anaerobic, and facultative bacteria which facilitate the breakdown of waste organics, ammonia, and nitrate. Unlike competing products, the bacteria employed by Stability™ are non-sulfur fixing and will not produce toxic hydrogen sulfide. Stability™ is completely harmless to all aquatic organisms as well as aquatic plants, thus there is no danger of over use. Stability™ is the culmination of nearly a decade of research and development and represents the current state of the art in natural biological management.

Stability™ contains a synergistic blend of aerobic, anaerobic, and facultative bacteria which facilitate the breakdown of waste organics, ammonia, and nitrate.

DIRECTIONS: Use 1 capful (5 mL) for each 40 L (10 gallons*) on the first day with a new aquarium. Then use 1 capful for each 80 L (20 gallons*) daily for 7 days. Fish and other aquatic species may be introduced at any time as long as dosage is maintained for 7 days. For optimum biofilter performance use 1 capful for each 40 L (10 gallons*) once a month or with each water change and whenever introducing new fish or whenever medicating an aquarium.

Any tried it? reliable or not?

:huh::blink:

I might be wrong on this.

There are many of these bacteria around, but I really doubt what they mean by can be used in BOTH SW and FW. Because FW and SW nitrifying bacteria are not the same strain, it would be ineconomical for them to dump in both type of bacteria in a product.

Give nature time to do its work... Be patient & don't waste money.

Cycling the aquarium will take anywhere from one week to 8 weeks depending on the state of the LR. Do your NH3/NO2 tests, understand the cycle and you are almost guaranteed a successful tank. When you start stocking, go slowly... Where's the hurry? make the pleasure last. don't buy LS in a hurry or because you like the looks. Do your research properly on needs and compatibility.

Chemicals should only be used in last resort (I used them on my QT and found them quite inefficient!!).

Best of Luck!

:unsure:

So... which do you all recommend? use chemical to speed up the process or let nature take its course? :erm:

Hey bro.. Go by nature. :) Use the cycling period to do more research. ;)
