ERM you are wrong........ FYI powder blue need big tank firstly they are scholling fishes and they need lots of space to lap ard.... If you dun belive me you can try even if both are added together the same time..... Suggest you dun give wrong info as ppl might take in and its the PBt who suffer not you or the owner....

There is nothing of wrong and right, this is just a suggestion. It is not impossible to keep two PTB together, most reefer have been successfully keep 4 to 5 surgeon fish in one single 4 footer. As long as they dont fight and give them more swiming space, why not?? Dont critise on ppl unless you are very very sure.

actually thioeh I'm quite sure that you will not be able to keep two tangs of acanthurus genus in the same tank... I dun know anyone who has kept two tangs of acanthurus genus in the same tank... Many including myself are keeping more than one tang in the tank but they are not of same genus... thus agressive behavior can be avoided.. unless you have a sufficiently large aquarium(8feet?? dunno) I dun think it is possible to keep two acanthuridae together....

Just my 2 cents.

I saw ppt keep 2 PTB together and also 3 PT and 1 YT together in a 3 footer.

PT and YT are from same genus. The only problem is how you introduce and way of introduce new tang inside you tank. Best way is to introduce all at one time, only problem is it will increase in bio-load. if you want can introduce 2 same genus at the same time, you will see the result, 4-5 tangs swiming happily in your tank.

Zebrasomas if introduced together think easier to apease them than Acanthurus genus... ANyone here have 2 Tangs of Acanthurus genus in their tanks currently? care to share how you manage to keep aggression under control?

yes they may have done so but dun you think its cruel to squeeze so many tangs into a small tank..... have you thought abt that...... yes 4 or 5 acanthurus may do well at on time but once territory has been established fight may occur and that can happen at any time any momement..... it can result in a killing frenzy whereby one tang or 2 just gang up and wack others to death then finally you are left with one..........

FYI in the wild PBT dun live in pair, they school thus a pair will definately fight and wack each other despit adding at the same time..... Trust me i have been there done that when I am still a newbie starting out...... I have seen many lfs placing PBT together, yes some may seem ok but do you notice on some tanks where PBT are placed together, Some of the PBT may have big slashes........ Okok you may want to disagree again but dun you think squeezing tangs together in a small tank is an ugly sight... Tangs are only beautiful when the are given ample of space.....

I will not want to repeat history but you can try 2 PBT together and update on them from the day you buy till they die and see if they really fight like i mention.... You cannot just base on the fact that you seen some reefer with tangs doing ok together and you say that 4 feet tank is ok with many tangs... Do you visit those reefer everyday from the day of addition till the death of the fish....

Hope you understand, I am not picking a fight... cos physically i surely lose :lol::lol:

If you have done so.... From the day the fish added till death, I will salute to you

FYI i done keep 2-3 of Acanthurus genus in one single tank and not just only see the follow reefer keeping. You might be right but doesn't been it cannot be done. All reefer dont like their tang to fight and die, same to you and me. So for you only one tang per tank. There are ways of keeping few tangs together and live happily and not like what you say as this might be only your way of seeing it, difference opinion one another.

That i have done so too... I mean keeping same genus and same spcies for example acanthrus lucosternon and acanthrus lucosternon together... try that if you think you can combine 2 powder blue together

Read somewhere, its possbile to keep more than one tang of the same species like bpt since they school in the wild.

But keep more than 2 , since like any school, one will be domineering and keep bullying the other, if you have 3, then two will take turn to be bullied and thus distribute the stress. that is provided all the three survive and acclimate in your tank well, and you have to consider the tank size of keeping so many tangs in the same tank.

I have no experience to back the theories up , tank not big enough and too risky for me. But then again the temptation of seeing a group of PBT in one tank might motivate some reefers to try it.

just my two cents.
