Depends on what type of eel. Moray eels have been known to eat lionfish that can fit into their mouths.

I have kept 2 kinds of eels with my lionfish (volitans, radiata, zebra, biocellatus, brachyptera, antennata) for a few months without trouble. Both are juveniles, one is green in colour with a reticulated pattern, the other plain white (sorry, no id for the eels). The eels just stay in their stony hideouts and only come out for food. They don't seem to bother the lionfish and vice versa, although one may try to snatch food from the other's mouth on occasion. Having said that, the eels may give trouble when they grow to a large size. I wouldn't keep triggers with lionfish (although I have not tried) - I think the fins of the latter would be too vulnerable.

i've kept an eel with some lionfishes before too. The eel didn't seem to hassle the lionfishes much...just come out for feeding too. I think maybe you have to provide enough food as i think the eel might try to whack anything if it's really hungry.
