Red Sea Prizm

Hi all,

I'm seriously considering getting a Red Sea Prizm Skimmer... anyone with experience with the model??? Mind sharing about the effectiveness of the unit? Is it worth the money you paid for it, or should I be saving up for a Beckett??

For what size tank?

IMO the prizm is working fine. There's two model, one for 100G and another for 300G. I'm using the 100G type. Very easy to use and skim out dark brown skim about half cup every week. Tank water is clearer than when I was using the Sander air-stone type. Two of my friends have also switched to prizm from Orca.

Try the famous freshwater fishshop at Blk 328 Clementi Ave 2 (Clementi florist and aquarium). My friend bought it there for $200. I bought back then from R#inb*w for a cut throat $240.

Walk a few more steps from Rxxxbxx to Petmart. Got mine at $188 b4 CNY.

Thanks all for your comments. Tank is a 30 X 15 X 16 main tank with 24 X 15 X 15 sump / refugium. Certainly less than 100 G.

Prizm need some patient to fine tune till u get the dry skimate u want.

Since u have a sump, u shld consider some thing more solid like those standing model that u can put in the sump. Prizm is a hang-on skimmer, more for those without space & sump. Maybe the expert here cud advise u on the more solid skimmer.

anyway...prizm skimmer may be rated at 90G/100G...but according to fishfreak in this thread...Prizm is only good for a much smaller tank.

but i dunno how true is tis...no experience wif Prizm lar...so i suggest u get a venturi kind skimmer...jus my tot

Yeah, I thought of that too... but I'm working on a really tight budget and getting the prizm is already going to bust it.
