Maybe you can try this (see picture below) i am not too sure about name of this plant but all i can say is that it is very tough no need to worry about it going asexual. I have try those common caulerpa and grapes in my 1 x 1 x 2 refugium but don't know why none lasted for more than one month. Even lights are on for 24 hrs. I got this when i bought my fire shrimp in Lor halus. The uncle pack a few strand inside those tyical small bag together with the shrimp, i think it for the shrimp to hide to reduce stress. At that time after releasing the shrimp i thought don't waste the weed so i threw into my refugium. Unexpectedly this weed just grow like wild fire man, overtaking the whole refugium in last than 4 weeks, imagine the amount of nitrate and phosphate it would have asborb from my main tank to grow this much hehehe. But then very importantly lights have to be on 24 hrs or else all will turn white next morning. Go to your lfs and ask for a few strand next time you go there buy something, i am sure they will give you a few strand for free. Of course if you were to compare those grapes attached to LR, theyare definately nicer to look at la, but which would prefer. A nicer looking refugium or a working refugium. My looks like a bloody jungle man, at least no worries.

my personal experience is that calupera prolifera is the best. Very hard to get as they are mainly hitchhikers on live rock. The shops here carry mainly grape and fern type, which are not hardy and tend to go white even with 24/7 lighting. The moss type discussed is quite hardy, but doesn't grow fast enough to my liking to be a source of nutrient export. I'm now using some sawblade type which does the job well but still not as good as prolifera.
