Hi to all,

I have a flame angel an some other fishes in my 2.5 ft tank, saw some yellow angel at pac marine yesterday. Intend to add but don't know will they fight. Please advise

Thanks :thanks:

In such a small tank the angel alone will be cramped even without any other fish. Even if you don't want more fish it is likely the angel may fall sick. Get rid of other fishes unless they are tiny, smaller than 1.5 inch and less in number than 2 at the most and keep only a bit of rock to provide space for the angel to swim or there is a 90% chance it will fall sick. Also, do water changes weekly/fortnightly.

And I mean the flame angel, not just the yellow.

Hi all,

thanks for the reply so far. Mine is actually a reef tank with 4 fishes in it, namely the flame angel, 1 PT, 1 garma and 1 name unknown.

Corals wise I have 4 bubbles, 2 hammers, 1 octopus, 1 jewel,

1 gonipora, 2 clams, 3 red coco worms, 2 star polyps, 2 sun corals and 2 plate corals.

The tank is about 1 year old. The latest fish I put in is the PT and it is already more than half a year already, the flame angel is 1 or 2 months earlier than the PT.

Corals wise, 2 of the red coco worms are the latest occupants, about 2 weeks, the rest of the corals are between about 1 year to 2 months old in my tank.

So far all are doing fine. So I would like to check if my tank is over loaded? since you mentioned that I should not out more than 2 fishes...

Please advise.

Thanks :thanks:

Just to let you guys know...I have a Flame and 3 clams for a year. The flame loves to nip at the clams, taking a chuck out from its mantle every now and then. So think properly. Now, I am in a fix because I like them both and am unwilling to give away either. Luckily my clam's mantle will self-repair.

I think (marine) therefore I am

PT? Purple or some kind of Tang in a 2.5 ft?

How long have you had the goniopora? They usually last for about 6+ months then suddenly die. I hope you feed your sun corals or they will starve. And yes, your tank is overloaded.

Hi all,

Thanks, I will take note of not over loading the tank. FYI, my purple tang is rather small and so far it is fine. As for the gonipora, it's already in the tank for almost 9 months and it's also fine. the only unfortunate thing is that initially I placed it very near to a bubble and a small patch was stung by the bubble.

I'm feeding the corals with Marine deluxe, Kent phytoplex and microVert and using Coral Accel daily also. So far the sun corals open every morning when I feed and in the night when my lights are off.

FYI, I'm having a DIY 2 ft sump with full tank of water so this maybe the reason of not overloading yet??? Just asking for advise on this also as I'm having mixed answers on whether the sump tank water will constitute to the total water volume. I'm using a Macro PS.

Thanks and regards :thanks:

The sump is good because it increases the amount of water in your tank, so the fish can stay healthy. But, in the case of tangs and large angels they like swimming wide distances and swimming around in a small tank is not good for them (they can't swim into the sump  ) Also some fish fight over territory.

The sun coral might be okay but sometimes it may not catch enough liquid food, and it only opens up when it senses the food. Try feeding right on top of the polyps with small amounts of chopped meaty food once in a while.
