Is PL light sufficient to sustain the clams in a 1.5ftx1ftx1ft tank? Coz considering that clams need high lightings, then with that kinda tank height, can it be done? Its gonna be a clams only tank.

Need some advise here... :thanks:

possible... best to use more than one PL tube though.. let the light rays from both tubes overlap... then probably can keep squamosa deresas and maybe even maximas... many have done it before...

Yup...intending to tee off from my return. But is the light intensity able to color up the clams??

bro..think no one can really tell u a straight yes or no. many will advise u to go for at least t5s..but there r reefers who have kept clams under pl lights too.maybe u can try the less light demanding clams like squa or derasa first.. :)

I did manage to color up a brown croea and it started having a bit tint of blue, using just 2x36 PL (1 blue 1 white)...

I think if you use PL, it has to be near the water surface and a good reflector arranged in a proper angle (such that the light is shining directly at the clam), you will also have to place the clam quite high up on your rock works...

but for best results, MH still rocks!

might as well go for mh from start, wattage and heat will be abt the same will so many pls.... :P plus u get healthy, fast growing clams! once brought a croceas from a reefer, he kept it under Fl, totally bleached man! <_< after in my tank for 2 weeks(using mh) colour ###### back almost fully!

I gotta feeling..Woo...hoo....That tonight's gonna be a good night.....That tonight's gonna be a good, good night!

i tink go for T5s betta... more cost effective...

if u use PLs, prob u will hav to change the tubes once in a few months... but T5 HO can go up to over a year....

in the long run, it is less hassle-free n more cost effective...

anyways nowadays T5 tubes so cheap n it's cheap to DIY, an actinic or 50/50 PL can realli kill ....,

T5s are cooler than PLs somemore, offers more intensity to bring out ur clams colors as well... ;)
