Hi guys,

I would assume that Ushios are BLVs except Ushios have a additional electrode therefore it doesn't requires a Ignitor? ....... (Ushios are American made... right?)

and most German made bulbs, BLVs, AB Aqualines, Radiums would require ignitors......

I thought all MH requires ignitors? spade have a 4.5kV ignitor for his 250watt ushio what

I think all Ushios are made by the BLV factory in Germany. Its just that the Ushio made some modifications for the American market, and other non-European markets.

Ushio is a Japanese lighting company who has bought over BLV of Germany. That,s why they are called Ushio BLV. European MH lamps especially Germann bulbs require HPS/MH ballast and igniter except for certain models only. Apparently US light manufacturers are not as advanced as the Europeans in terms of MH lamp technology.
