Can someone advice on how to do the piping for a sump without holes drilled connected to an external pump?

If a U shape pipe had been use, what can I do to draw the water to the external pump?

Thanks.

Do a Tee joint to your suction of the pump. One goes inside the sump, the other connect to another split joint of a pump(chiller/skimmer) with ball valve to prime the external pump for a headstart before you close off the ball valve and it will suck from the sump.

sorry for the ulgy diagram, rushing for work........

Eric

well why do you need the pump in the sump for anyway when you want to decrease the heat by using an external pump

IMO it totally defeats the purpose

Maybe Eric want to go in depth

i think he means that the pump in the sump is only for providing a head start to initiate the virgin siphon.after that u can off the pump and close the ball valve as water will be automatically sucked into the pump.

virgin siphon ah??? then dun use it too many times....later become too loose....wat i did was submerge inlet pipe into the water....get a pump and pump water in for about 10 seconds....then can start the engine liao....

Thanks for the explanation......that's exactly wat I meant........temperory tap off the water supply from other source just to prime the external pump for a headstart to prevent cavitation of the pump.........a pump is an illustration, you could tap off from your overflow piping for the same purposes too.......Be creative......
