when we buy anthias..its better to buy in a group like 4-6 so that they will not shy and end up hiding not eating right?

i have read up and saw that some web suggest to keep afew female with 1 male..

like 3-4female with 1 male anthias..

if thats the case when we buy anthias do we need to get 1 male and a few female? or we can just buy assorted kind?

and also e.g i buy purple queen..

do i need to get agroup of purple queen or can i mix like

2purple queen,2bartlet,2sunburst..

please advise..got curious thanks :)

Actually in captivity they might be less stressed if you buy them singly. If you buy a group, territorial disputes, dominancy in a limited space such as a tank can bring alot of stress.

Always something more important than fish.

IME better to buy in shoals yes... if not you risk having them hide a lot... you buy in bigger groups they will come out and even feed on the first day(for the easier species)... It's best to keep one species only, though not proven, it is said that the stronger species will terrorise the others(for more aggressive types), However many have had success with mixing... Male to female ratio is kept 1:2/3< so as to prevent males from competing for mating rights.
