NEEd info on Tank Temperature .

hi , i got 6 in line fan . usually it will blast to 27 deg . now due to hot weather , my tank temp is 29 . threatening to go 30 degrees. . The atmospheric temp is around 31 to 32 nowdays . so when the outside temp(atmosp) is 32, will it bring up the tank temp also. but if 29 or 30 deg, will go to 28 or maybe 27 . i quite worried of the hot weather. now fan see also no use.

i want to know that outside temp does play apart bring the tank temp ups and downs?

yes the air around does play apart.like if i turn off my aircon,and open windows

in a normal hot sunday,my tank is about 29 with the help of 4fans..with 2x150W mh..

if i on the aircon,normally is about 27 on the same hot day..

if its on a cool day,with aircon alone tank is about 27-26..

there was once last week fri and sat..was much cooler..with the help of 4fan and aircon tank temp was only 23..

maybe..its more about the temperature in the air around the fan/tank

than the temperature outside your house.

23 degrees celcius?! Did'nt your fish get whitespot after that? Corals did'nt freeze? Not advisable for temperature to drop so low. Lowest recommended temperature limit for tropical reef tanks is around 25 degrees celcius if I did'nt remember wrongly.

i really that i have my fan and air con running fo one night and the temp drop to 23 c too.... coral like not too happy ... remember when i switch off the fan , i see condensation like sweat on the tank !!

i maintain at 26.5 to 28 .... tink 25 is still the best right ??

i think 29C is still ok unless u keeping corals that require cooler temperatures..just my personal opinion

one more thing, my foxface usually will rush like pig to eat the food , very cute .now eat little ler . dont know. and he will hide sometimes. is the temp hot or what? i check my nitrate and ph and 8.2 . mine is a Fowlr setup . so anyone help me? but give him attention than he will eat . .i will always feed my fish 3 times a day , or sometimes twice a day .feed every day one . so maybe overfeed or he feel already full due to past recent feeding when he eat like a greedy fish. ?

help . keeping him for 1 month plus liao .

I have no idea where is this thread heading but if you are looking for solution, then you should address the two conditions, ambient and water temperature.

Try airing your room a little more to let the heat dissipate, raising the ambient temperature.

Add a single powerful fan to blow across the water surface to promote better gaseous exchange and evaporation. But do keep up with the water topup.

Not sure what is your lighting scheme, but since yours is a FOWLR, I suppose changing photoperiod hours will help a little.

Just watch the fish for diseases or injuries.

Don't see why so many people concerned about temperatures. As long as it stays around 28 degrees it will be alright. Occasional 29 degrees would'nt be a problem at all. 30 is a little too high though.

1st, u must undestand that fan cooling method works becaused of water evaporation... to make it efficent, you must ensure your water evaporation is atthe max level, few things to take note:

1)water surface- larger water surface will contribute more water evaporation, to say that, a tall tank will is less efficient to cool down using fan compare to a shorter tank. eg- a 3(L)x2(W)x2(H) tank will be having higher tmp using the same fan in the same room comare to a 3(L)x3(W)x2(H) tank.

2) Humidity level/vendilation- Water evaporation also depends on the sorrounding humidity, if your room is having fully enclosed and air with higher humidity level will reduce evaporation. Adding a fan to increase the vedilation as suggested by Rumor will help a bit

3) surrounding temp- There will be a bottleneck when using fan to cool your tank. The efficiency of fan cooling method is closely related to sorrounding tempreture. If your room temp is 34 deg cel, never hope to reach anything below 28deg cel even you have many strong fan. I ever had 3 12V 80mm DC fan DIYed for my 2.5'x1.5'x1.5' tank.... water evaporation is at 3 litre a day or 2.5%. After using it for some time, i switch off 2 off the fan and the temp still remain the same.....

Yeap...totally agree....used to have 2 AC fan and 6 DC fan blowing at my 2 footer...

my place very hot....alway 30c plus i have about 150w of lights....fans turn full blast (tank sounds like a jet engine) I was only able to get it down to 28c...Switch off the AC Fan, and step down the DC fan to 6v and temp still 28c.....of course turn off all fan temp climbs up to more then 30c....

i think there is a limit on how much water can be evapourated!

Used to have a table fan blowing at my tank... never hit above 30.. not even on the hottest of days and this is when I have 250W on my 55gal...
