3D printing is getting more popular in the past years. And there are quite a few reefers here who have 3D printers at home.

Comments, feedback & new ideas are welcome.

 

Kicking off with a reactor adapter for Nyos skimmer. Using this with biopellet reactor will ensure all the slime & bacteria from the biopellet reactor goes directly to the skimmer instead of going to the display tank where there may be a risk of causing cyano.

This is a simple adapter for the Skimz calcium reactor. #supportlocal

 

I found that topping up the calcium reactor to be quite a trouble some process. Often getting bits of rocks around the O-ring, leading to improper seal & leaks.

A funnel is ideal but its hard to find one that fits the 40mm fill hole size. Hence i printed this adapter for this wide mouth funnel (common used for pickling jars).

3D printed a customized housing for the kalk reactor. This design is easy to access the internal fan/PCB but yet 'seal' against accidental water spills.

Display Tank : 36" x 20" x 20" Herbie overflow box design, Sump : 36" x 21" x 17", Frag Tank : 16” x 20” x 16”, custom built by Tank Culture.

Lightings : Ecotech  Radion XR15 Pro x 2 for Main Display Tank, Inled R80 x 1 for Frag Tank.

Chiller : Dalkin 1hp compressor with build-in drop coil.

Skimmer : Skimz Octa SC205i Protein Skimmer.

FR : H2Ocean FMR75 Fluidised Media Reactor with Hailea HX-2500 (Feeder Pump) running Rowaphos.

CR : Skimz Monzter E Series CM122 Calcium Reactor.

BPR: Marine Source Biopellet  Reactor with Continuum Reef Biopellet Fuel. 

Main Return Pump : SICCE Syncra ADV 9.0 & Jebao ACQ-10000 Water Pump.

Wavemaker : Jebao MOW-9 x2 for Main Display Tank & Jebao SLW-20M  Sine Wave Pump for  Frag Tank.

Water Top Up: AutoAqua Smart ATO Lite.

Oh that one is really good idea. You could make mini version for dosing containers too.

Does anyone know where to pick up some filament during CB as I just finished all of mine? Thanks

To reuse back wave pump magnet, to hold flow switch sensor.

Not working for the first print below, because the magnet from the holder will affect the switch operation, which is work under magnetic.

Interesting. Didn't know that the external magnet will affect the flow switch till you mentioned it.

A hose holder for water from the various reactors to be positioned right in front of the return pump so that the water goes straight to the display tank instead of re-circulating around the sump/pump & back to the reactor.

Another design is clipped onto a TLF Phosban reactor (for my sulfur reactor effluent). Its done this way as I'd like to visually see the drip rate.

There are many brands out there. Popular cheaper ones to start with is an Creality Ender3 or Tronxy XY2.

I'm using the Creality Ender3 Pro.

 

Other popular more branded ones are Prusa i3 MK3S or Ultimaker S3. I'm sure other have their opinion on what's good or recommended.

Locally, you can find it on Lazada. Should be around $330. Those are mostly resellers & you should not expect much technical support.

Back in June, I pasted several zoa polyps on this 3D printed honeycomb frag plugs. Each hexagon bit is held by thin tabs. Easy to cut off with a pen knife.

Now they have grown & spread out over the entire rack. Its easy to frag the zoa now with minimum risk of damaging the polyps. Particularly good for expensive & sensitive zoanthids.

Saw this idea online & decided to make one.

Bubble algae removal tool. Connected to a hose. Dig out the bubble algae with the sharp tip & siphon the bubble out whole. Or if its broken, the bits is siphoned out immediately.
