Some of my old QT setups. Simple 2’ tanks suitable for fish between 1~4inches in solo quarantine. Got a 3-tier shelf unit from Ikea and added additional bracing for support. Each tank held about 50L of water

How did you keep the temperature stable / chilled for each tank?

they were only used to house fish, and i kept them in a shaded semi-outdoor part of the house. the pumps/filters in each system were too small to generate significant heat above 29 degrees and in cooler weather helped to regulate the temperate around 26-27 degrees.

definitely not a setup for coral, but enough to reliably qt fish.

Golden cloves beginning to colonize more of the rock. Certainly a welcome occurence. These guys make for lovely fillers in between some of the more centrepiece coral in a display

Got some shots of my fish currently in my reeftank a couple days back:

common ocellaris clownfish- very typical nemo, but dear to me cause it’s one of my oldest fish

IMG_5860.thumb.JPG.e8f01047daa275cd9d3bb5ba807a22dc.JPG

blue tang- another commonly kept tang. decided to roll with this + an ocellaris clown so that guests who come over who aren’t familiar with other saltwater fish have an easier time identifying my aquarium as marine/saltwater

yelloweye kole tang(spotted indian ocean variant)- unlike its more renowned sibling from Hawaii, this one has polka-dots instead of slender streaks along its body. coloration is generally the same though, and also has a yellow ring around its eyes

And here are my two personal favorites in my reeftank as far as fish go: a Blue-Ring angelfish & a Moon Wrasse. These are of special value to me as they were locally collected personally and have been in my care for a while now.

Pomacanthus Annularis

Went and ordered myself a pair of carbon fiber tweezers by maxspect from rms earlier before the cb ended. definitely a step up from stainless steel, less to worry about corrosion over time.

IMG_6236.thumb.JPG.c0b90819d5e396bc10a1e631e1eb4227.JPG

Also have the carbon fiber long handle algae scraper. Loving these accessories from maxspect. an increasingly diverse brand imo

also picked up some vitalis large fish food flakes at the same time. ideally i would’ve gotten something cheaper that i know my fish already love(i.e omega one’s marine flakes) but i couldn’t find them anywhere given the import challenges at the time so i settled for this. pricey, but glad my fish love them just as much. the size of the flakes is also more ideal for my larger angel. Decided to do away with most if not all of my mangroves that were already moved from a separate system to my 4ft and go back to the old faithful FOWLR setup. Also removed the few fish that were in it previously like a 9” Batfish so this system is pretty much tabula rasa.

IMG_7131.JPG

Beginning again this time with a locally collected porcupine puffer!
IMG_7066.JPG

Planning to turn this 180G(4x2.5x2.5ft) back into a relatively peaceful setup with docile and interactive fish. Here’s my stocking plan so far:(the only thing I have currently is the porcupine puffer)
- Longspine porcupinefish
- Longhorn Cowfish(maybe)
- Red-Breasted Wrasse
- Chain-line Wrasse
- Blueface Angel
- Gold Nugget Clowns
- Feathery Filefish

Also thought of getting a tang of some sort or a rare rabbitfish for algae control.
(Perhaps a gem tang in the future cause I’ve never had one of those before)

Porcupinefish is currently in a temporary 140L QT tub while I get the system ready.

Got myself a 30x15x15cm acrylic fish acclimation box that can function as a fishtrap as well from rms recently to replace my very rudimentary one I got from Nanyang Trading/Seaview Aquarium that used to be at Jalan Kayu(now at Chencharu Link).

Admittedly I wasn’t been the biggest fan of acclimation boxes in the main display but plans to add more tangs to my system in the near future convinced me I need something like this.

Latest addition: A classic lumi-green Kenya Tree with bluish tips of the nepthea variety(not capnella) from a fellow reefer’s trimmings. He ran mostly T5s in 10,000k if I’m not mistaken, so I didn’t get to see how luminous it was until i put it in the 300G. Lovely big piece

How's your mangrove doing?

Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk

sadly had to decommission it a while back due to neighbour’s renovation works on a shared wall. largest mangrove plant was about 1.2m tall at that point. sold or gave away most of the plants that I could save
