Fire Hazard

I'm currently running 2 x 4" fans and 1 x clipon on my tank, but switch them all off via a timer at night. Anyone knows if it's safe to leave them running 24/7 ? I tried running the clipon for 2 x 24hrs and there was no heating up at all, but still worried about a potential fire hazard. Tips, anyone?

Regards,

Hong Yee

dun worry e main circuit breaker is designed to trip before any fire out break. unless urs is faulty.

fan is not problem also, it'll breakdown before it catches fire. the only problem is plugs.

get those approved plug with the sticker. dun buy those cheap cheap multi plug, although fire is not possible, it may damage ur equipment.

i got a cheap multi plug that get too hot and melts with my timer and plug. though no fire, the smell is terrible.

Hi Coelocanth,

I can't help but agree with you on the plugs issue!! I've been brainwashed/cheapskate/crazy enough to buy this cheap and reliable-looking one, but ended up having sparks and getting part of it melted.

Now I'm running the fans on alternative cycles, 6 hours a time with 6 hrs interval. Looks good still, but wish I could run them 24hrs so I can top up with more kalk!
