The clown will have to slowly coat themselves with the slime from the anenome so that when they host it the sting will not affect themm... Give them some time... And yes... Carpet anenome is very dangerous have bad experience with them....

Clown fish will periodically coat themselves on the host anemone so that they will not be stung. Thus if a clown has been without anemone for a period of time, it needs to gradually coat small parts of its body with the anemone's sting during this period you will notice the clown moving in and out of the anemone but not fully letting the anemone envelope it. ;)

Different clowns also prefer different anemone do it is advisable to check out the anemone preferred by your clown before proceeding. :)

Another thing to note is that clown will not go near an anemone when the anemone is weak or dying for obvious reasons.

It is also not adviseable to immediately introduce the anemone to a resident clown for it may give the anemone undue stress. The right way to to acclimatize your anemone to your water and lighting parameters first and when the anemone is fully acclimatize then introduce the clown. I ;)
