Ducting chiller hot air out of room..

Hi guys,

I'm pretty sick and tired of coming back to an oven of a room... and I have a feeling it's not healthy for my chiller either.. The problem is I have to close my windows when I leave the house to prevent rain water from coming in... and in doing that it sort of traps the hot air in the room (even with the door open)..

I was thinking of setting up some ductwork to pipe the hot air out of my room through a window (for which I would then have to seal).. anyone has ideas for carrying this out?

What i'm worried is that the chiller's fan is not powerful enough to drive the hot air out of the ductwork resulting in hot air recirculating in the chiller, which is even worse!

How?

Thanks,

Ervine

hi Ervin,

at the other end of the duct, install a fan blowing outward, that would creat a suction on the inside and draw out the hot air liao lor :) the same kind of fan that some used to cool their fish tank... price abt 35 to 50 SGD.

U might 1 2 consider placing the chiller near to the windows as this is one problem

I'm facing now too, heat. that of cos, meaning the water needs to travel over a longer distance to reach the main tank.

Hais.. more equipment... can I do it without the additional fan? Maybe run the ductwork sloping upwards to hot air rises to the outlet?

You should the open the window a little enough to let the cool fresh air in.

Some of the hot /stale air might get trap in the duct because the chiller fan is not strong enough to push out all the air in the ductwork and in turn, the chiller efficiency will be bad. Therefore you need another fan the end of the duct to pull the hot air out.
