read from liveaquaria.com that they

"The Firefish Goby prefers moderate lighting conditions, several hiding places to duck into when threatened, and a moderate current passing over the reef."

does that mean that with mh on..they seldom swim around?

but i have seen lfs with establish reef tank having mh and the fish is often out..

kind of confused.

well. firefishes will usually come out if there's no threat, they will also like to roam ard the centre of the tank. Mine only come out for food, no food it's in the cave. ;) i dun see any issue on lights.. hmm..

Everything's sold. Back in 2yrs time.

Mine used to come out to middle of tank very often until I got 4 B/G Chromis...then it got nervous and only comes out once in a while...during feeding time, it goes to a corner near its hidey hole and feeds until the other comes ard then it ducks into its hole...

Mine light on it come out, light off it goes off... so you can sort of "switch" it out or in :D

Generally they are very cautious and alert animal.

Actually all fish (not only fire goby) will be some what frightened when there is sudden strong light that they never seen before, of course different fish react to a different extend. As long as they are used to the light level then it is ok. If you are afraid of this problem may be you can introduce the light slowly to the tank instead of from pitch black to sunburst.
