does your skimmer foam profusely all the time ?

Hi folks,

I am having a H&S skimmer.

I can see the lots of fine bubbles are being produced in the

body of the skimmer.

What I notice is that usually after I fed my fishes, the skimmer will

foam profusely for a few hours.

After that fine bubbles are still produced but it stopped foaming.

That is no foam rises up the body into the collection cup.

My question is what does that mean when there is no foam

rising up the body ...... does it mean that my water quality is

very poor without nutrients ?

Weird... mine completely stops foaming when I feed the fishes... seems like cyclopeeze is at work in ceasing the foaming action...

Oily food will affect skimming efficiency...I'm feeding garlic oil everyday...

IMO it is natural for the skimmer to foam, only to stop foaming occassionally. I experience that too. However, you should note that the water level of your tank should reach the bottom of the foaming cup, only then would the skimmer work well.

I notice that after feeding, the skimmer will foam. Other times not so much foam

for me I note that whenever I dose kallk which is at the same selection of my skimmer water, it foam will reduce
