blueheaven
Hi guys, stumbled upon this thread in RC. they cut the output of the maxijet to get a wider flow. really cool IMO http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.p...25&pagenumber=1 Quote But if you tame me, we shall need each other. SRC Member dersuz Posted May 10, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 10, 2004 I have 4 maxijets running on 2 timers to switch the direction. Been running for 1 month, so far like the outcome of the maxijets. Would be good to connect to a Red Sea Wavemaker for multiple change of directions. FuEl
Hmmm...I'm tempted to try.. But what timers should be used? Only electronic ones? Quote Always something more important than fish. http://reefbuilders.com/2012/03/08/sps-pico-reef/
SRC Member ervine Posted May 10, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 10, 2004 Hmmm...I'm tempted to try.. But what timers should be used? Only electronic ones? the only difference in what type of timer to use is how often the pump switches on and off... electronics ones you can set it to the minute, meaning u can have 1min off, 2 on, etc etc... analog ones only work at 15min intervals... FuEl
15 mins sound fine to me....1-2 min on/off will surely spoil the maxijet faster compared to 15 mins intervals.. SRC Supporter ReDDeviLs Posted May 10, 2004 SRC Supporter Share Posted May 10, 2004 i thought power heads and pumps tense to spoil faster with by turning on and off often? Quote [ ] [ ] Reef Reefing Reefed

SRC Member ervine Posted May 11, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 11, 2004 i thought power heads and pumps tense to spoil faster with by turning on and off often? Maxijets have been known to withstand intermitent operations... so quite safe... better do with 15min rather than 1min 1min lah of course
SRC Member tineng Posted May 11, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 11, 2004 man that's gonna cost a bomb!!! check from the web site it cost US$29...so should be less then S$100....for a wavemaker should be consisdered cheap already?

SRC Member ervine Posted May 12, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 12, 2004 Just tried it out...man...it rocks! So much more power from my maxijet! Which one u use? 1200?
FuEl
Yea...1200...and connected it to an electronic timer. Was going to use a manual timer..but at 15mins on/off meaning that the maxijet would be off for 15 min before it on again..Don't want that to happen in my tank. So used an electronic timer..with about 20+ program settings. So my maxijet will on/off about 20+ times in 24 hours...creating random current throughout my tank. I randomly set it to run for anywhere between 1 hour to 3 hours before switching it off and on again. Cooldown time between off/on operation is only set to 1 minute. The current that shoots out alternate between about 30-45 degree angles whereby the original output piping is. Now got D.I.Y wavemaker..no need tunze already.. FuEl
This is my modified maxijet. Note the amount of water turbulence I get. Quote Always something more important than fish. http://reefbuilders.com/2012/03/08/sps-pico-reef/
SRC Member ervine Posted May 12, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 12, 2004 If i'm not wrong it actually has a 50% chance of turning in the opposite direction each time it's fired up thus resulting in a change of water flow direction right? how big ur tank btw? thinking of 1200 but I suspect it's too powerful for me coz I'll be using it to shoot across the width not length of my tank, which is 1.5ft
FuEl
My tank 4ftX1.5X1.5....I think 1200 is too strong...unless you direct it against the glass? Or maybe use the smaller maxijet model?
