Chiller Questions!

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, started using a Hailea 1/4 chiller for my new tank about 2 days now and set it as 26 degree Celsius, but I notice every half an hour it turns on for about 5-10min, is that normal or does it only happens during the run in of a new chiller?

Tank is not near any windows/under sunlight.

It depends on your tank size.

The basic operation is, if you set it to 26, the chiller will kick in when temp is at 27 and stops at 25.9.

My tank + sump total volume is around 200L. I see a few forums and notice people saying theirs kick in around an hour plus or more

Hi. You should check what temperature chiller starts and stops. If it the same as said previous message than check your water flow. Check if the water temperature in the DP is coincide with what shown on chiller display as well

I believe there are several factors that could affect how frequent and how long your chiller kicks in.

These includes

- Using External or Internal Temperature Probe

- Placement of External Probe

- Chiller Flow Rate

- Surrounding Ambient Temperature

- Size of tank
