Pumprate for skimmer

Hi...am using a Sicce Extrema for my 2012. Right now it is tuned to almost at the minimum volume of water per hour, however, the skimmate is already very dark coloured. If I were to turn it up, more liquid will flow into the collection cup and hence a diluted skimmate.

When I first started using the skimmer ( a few weeks ago), I had to use the maximum flowrate available for any skimmate to formulate. After about a week, more water than anything flowed into the cup. Does that mean the water has been "cleaned" and hence a lower flowrate is enough to work the skimmer?

Is it true that a high flow rate for pumps are better for skimmers? Why? If I had known such a low rate was enough to run my 2012, I wouldnt have purchased the Extrema.

well i am using weipro2000 which flowrate is 1600l/hr. it is quite good.

extrema too powerful for 2012. should use it for 2013 or 2014. I had tried extrema with 2014 and it's perfect. i dun belive that u must use a very high flow rate pump for weipro. waste electricity, making ur water more warmer and finally the skimmate is watery. try to use those pumps that are used for return pump which has high pressure output and sure u will get good skimmate

My 2012 have good results with the extrema......I highly recommend the extrema cos of the adjustable flowrate..........my settings are maximum flowrate for extrema and maximum skimmer outlet.......the water level is just nice on the black collar.

I believe the venturi needs a higher flow or pressure rated pumps in order to suck in more air........& becos of the higher flow, you will be creating a swirling effect inside the chamber and increasing the contact time plus carrying the dirt on to the upper surfaces for the bubbles to bring them up to the collection cup.

Eric, since u are using the maxflow and maximum output for the extrema and skimmer respectively, do you get thick black skimmate or does it contain more water?
