To trap these worms..If I'm not wrong you will have to bait them. Put some fish or prawn meat into nylon stockings and tie them up. Leave the gunk in your tank after lights off and within hours all the worms will gather near the stocking. ;)

Always something more important than fish.

Hi there,

Pse look at my topic under general reef keeping, univited guests. I caught a 3ft bristle worm. Baiting does not always bring gd results. Best way is to remove the LR out of your tank & flush it out. Confirm all out. Gd luck.

this is the best way.

flush every single hole with freshwater and make sure the water really penetrates in. These worms will immediately scram out. Now none of my LR have any worms nor crabs

For me, i would observe which rock it actually nests. Untill i found it, i would get that piece of rock out of my tank and put it into a tank full of freshwater and leave it in the dark. After a few hours, if you are lucky, you will see the worm coming out. Then use a tweeser to gently pull the worm out. Becareful not to break the worm, if not it will regenerate into 2 worms. So always be gentle when pulling it out and not yank at it. Hope this will help you. Cheers! :)

it is totally up to u what method u wanna use... FLushing the LR with freshwater will kill all the nitrifying bacteria.. but if you feel that getting rid of the pests is more important then by all means... bacteria will colonize the LR again.. leaving the rocks in extremely saline water(brine) can also force the pests out of the rocks IME placing them in brine would have a lesser effect on the microbes that colonises the LRs..
