SRC Member ervine Posted May 9, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 9, 2004 Nice purple polyps!!! BTW, how does a single monti cap frag split into a few layers? Does it even split?
SRC Member LinkinPark Posted May 9, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 9, 2004 Monti foliosa colour change. The top was taken in Jan 04 & the bottom Apr 04. I got 3 opinions on this change: 1) bleached 2) (hater of brownies prefer this colour) better colour condition with improved environment 3) water that is low in nutrients, result in lower density of zoox, and therefore lighter colour
FuEl
Wah..no lah..how can be bleached... Think it's the other 2 factors. Quote Always something more important than fish. http://reefbuilders.com/2012/03/08/sps-pico-reef/

DeepBlue
Can anyone advice how to differential Monti from Acropora? Thanks JC Extracted from conversation between Tanzy and Joe_P in OCt 2002...SRC got quite a lot of info ...it just take us some time to unearth them again.... Had a great time reading old posts...interesting to see the experts taking their first step in keeping sps...WE are so lucky these info are still ard "Montipora can be distinguished from Acropora because of the presence of the axial coralite in Acropora. Montipora is harder to distinguish from Porites. Montipora capricornis tends to plate and grow whorls." - Tanzy (oct 2002) alot of info found there..do check it out: http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=
