SRC Member JustinK Posted May 6, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 6, 2004 Been having a piece of red gonio for the past few months, recently saw that a part of the flesh is slowly fading away and not opening up, the rest of the gonio is still opening up well. Is there any way in which i can save it? Possible to cut away the affected part to save the rest of it?

RAV-65
Bro, could it be stung by other corals? the green algae can normally grow only when that part of the gonio is dead.... Vincent Ho Thanks bro. but dun think it was stung leh... its pretty isolated at the top of my tank. Noticed that the part dying was surrounded by GHA, plucked it off few days back, but its not been opening since. The part is actually fading off, so dun think its gonna make it. Now jus keeping my fingers crossed... maybe i accidentally damaged the flesh when i was plucking.. cos its flesh is pretty sensitive. RAV-65
Bro, u may wanna shift it to another area of the tank, maybe too close to ur Mh... Also, try using GPs or BBS to feed your corals... the gonio will be able to eat it... Vincent Ho Quote People do not plan to fail; Often they just fail to plan... Are you sure? I have 2 frags of LPS in my tank..one a moon coral and the other is from the favia genus.. both of them doing well..less than 4cm in size. SRC Member JustinK Posted May 9, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 9, 2004 Are you sure? I have 2 frags of LPS in my tank..one a moon coral and the other is from the favia genus.. both of them doing well..less than 4cm in size. Hmm..what i read was that it is easier to frag the Euphyllia (branching) genus such as hammer, frogspawn and bubbles. But some, like the gonio is more difficult cos the flesh is easily damaged and once the flesh of a gonio is damaged, chances of survival are low. Well, either way, you could be right. So can i cut away the part that is damaged to save the undamaged part?

Is DT enough for it? really necessary to feed with golden pearls and bbs ah?
