DeepBlue
Bro..pros and cons??? I know PVC pipes will have a few angles and turns that slows down the water flow...eheim pipes are better ..right?? but if someone steps on it or it bends.... bad news.... weileong
If someone steps on it then prepare to buy a new sump I would use at least a small pc of flexible tubing, that'll help on the vibration from the pump as well. A bit anyone knows where to buy ehiem 25/32mm tubing? Seems to be out of stock everywhere! except for one place selling at $25/m. SRC Member Kenji80 Posted May 2, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 2, 2004 Bro, Sorry ah. What is PVC 20 mm PVC Pipe? Can show some pic? Can PVC pipe be directly connected to the pump?
weileong
Go hardware shop and ask for "20mm PVC". Can be connected directly but not so recommended. Better to use one piece of flexible tubing. This is how I connect up mine using flexible tubing. Quote Weileong's 4ft tank Part I Weileong's 4ft tank Part II
SRC Member Kenji80 Posted May 2, 2004 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 2, 2004 So use the ehiem 25/32mm tubing to connect to the pump and the 20 mm PVC?
weileong
Or you can use 20mm socket or elbow to connect directly. This example is MD40 but it has the same connection as MD55. Quote Weileong's 4ft tank Part I Weileong's 4ft tank Part II

Achilles Tang
Wei... don't trust cable tie... better get metal clip type! A loose hose that pops out when you're not there is really really something you want to avoid!
weileong
wow... sounds so scary.... I thought cable ties are better than those hose clamps? Always thought they are very prone to rusting. I tighten them a lot so they leaves some marking on the tubings, you're getting me worried, better go get some hose clamps first thing tomorrow Quote Weileong's 4ft tank Part I Weileong's 4ft tank Part II
Achilles Tang
Trust me, Wei Leong, I share this tip from my own personal experience... having a few litres of water spraying at you in the space of a few seconds is frightening... and note... I WAS THERE!!!! Imagine if I wasn't!
SRC Member typrobin Posted May 2, 2004 SRC Member Share Posted May 2, 2004 i think the metal clamps are definitely safer....even if it rust u can change them, i asume that u use the pump externally, so no worries about rusting mah.... blueheaven
i do not really understand the meaning of the PVC angles will lessen the water flow. I thought that water out from pump = water out from pipe? roidan
i do not really understand the meaning of the PVC angles will lessen the water flow.I thought that water out from pump = water out from pipe? definitely not.... simply put, ask u travel on a straight road as fast as you can and travel on a road with many bends as fast as you can.. i am sure you will travel faster on a straight road using the same car Quote Advanced Aquarist (March05)
