Saw this product on the web but they indicated that they have stopped production for some unstated reason.

No pumps etc needed! Just a box and some tubing!!! Works on a siphon principle, it says. And always replaces only what is lost through evaporation!

If it works, anyone out there able to understand the theory behind and maybe build one to try. I am still trying to figure it out.

Yeap. But still trying to figure out the "principle".... you know.... its the principle that counts.... :) All must be shouting "corny!!!!" Buay Tah Han!!!!

Seriously... Do we place the air intake portion just on the water line in the tank/sump and when the water line goes below, water somehow (THE PRINCIPLE) will flow through the other tube into the tank/sump to balance the water line again?

If my understanding is correct......

1) When intake portion just on water line, air cannot go into intake.

Therefore the topup container is basically air-tight.

No water will flow out of siphon

2) When water line is below intake portion, air get sucks into intake.

Air travel via intake into topup container.

Volume of air displace water.

Water starts to siphon out to sump via gravity

(Topup container must be higher than sump)

3) Once sump water line above intake portion, back to (1)

My 2 cents

:)
