My Powder blue and regal tangs have ich... Looking for Reefsafe medication... heard that Waterlife Octozin can cure and is reefsafe... but when I went to the LFS and read the label, it does not say that it can cure ich... other medications by waterlife that cure ich are not reefsafe...

can anyone advise?? Can Octozin really cure ich? need to be reefsafe... safe for CLAMS as well.. As I understand that some ich medication, though safe to most corals and inverts, are not safe for clams...

In conclusion, I'm looking for Reefsafe Ich medication...

I recommend octozin by waterlife. ML carries their products if I am not wrong. I have used it in reef tanks as small as 2ft without skimming without any ill-effects. Another shop would be in lavender area. The shop specializing in planted setups. Rather near to harlequin aquarium one.

Hi

I just bought ich cure (AquaPahrm) from ML. Using it for 2 days now. It did say not to use it with clam but I try anyway because no choice as PBT ich quite bad. But so far clams are OK but don't know effective or not. This morning saw it swimmimg ard instead of hiding but look very weak. Very worry.

I have tried AquaPharm on my friend's tank recently. He continue to dose the medication daily as per instruction and managed to rid ich after the fourth day.

We felt that although it is not as efficient as copper but it is reef safe. Although the bottle mentioned that corals and anemone will close during medications, we did not experience it.

have u used it in presence of clams?? is it safe? read the octozin label but it does not say it cures ich... can anyone confirm?

Yes it cures ich. I have used it on ich before. It will take quite some time to work though. Around a week if I did'nt remember wrongly. Not sure if safe with clam...I wasnt keeping clams last time..

I think ryz's biggest concern is whether can is be safely using on clams.

I am very concern too. So far, I have not seen any medications that mentioned it is safe for clams - most of them just claim it is safe for corals and inverts.

That's why, I am now getting a UV - cannot afford the risk. So bro ryz, why not consider a UV or O3? ;)

UV will be ur best bet as it kills a certain part of the life stage of itc... once a part of the cyle is broken... BYE BYE ich man!! :P

Don't use myxazin...it will discolor the water. Most likely not invert safe. For octozin it does not discolor the water in any way. Anyway..since it is stated as invert safe...and clams are considered inverts (bivalves) anyway...I don't see why it's would'nt be safe unless they specifically mentioned clams. Why not just remove the clams during the course of treatment just in case?

OKOK I bought Waterlife octozin... It doesn't say that it's not safe for clams... so I just use lah... haha... If my clams die because of this Imma sue them!! hahaha

dunno how many tablets to use though... it's labelled, use 1 tablet per 22.5 litres of water... my tank is a 3 by 2 by 1.5 so that means its about 90 by 45 by 60 = 243 litres... My sump is 2 by 1.5 by 1.5 meaning 60 by 45 by 45 cm(4/5 filled) = 97.2 litres

However, I have like 55kg of LR in my tank, About 8 inch of coral chips in my sump.. How much water does all this displace?? The true water volume in my tank is??? If I take the volume to be 334.2, I'd have to use 15 tablets per day for three days... however, I think the LR corals and Coral chips take up some space so I'm only going to use 12 tablets per day... Is this a ood estimation?? Can anyone advise??

Oh and can anyone confirm that Waterlife Octozin is safe for clams??

Thanks!

I think its rather safe to overdose slightly. Remember last time my tank only about 10 gallons..put about 1.5 tablets. Did'nt take account the rocks and stuff.. just the total volume of the tank..

Waterlife Octozin 21 Tablets Ref: AW-014

OCTOZIN is a treatment for internal parasites such as those which cause Sleeping Sickness, Hole - In - The - Head, Seawater Angelfish and Clownfish Disease, Malawi Bloat Disease and also early stages of Dropsy. OCTOZIN may also be used to treat Whitespot in seawater aquaria where CUPRAZIN cannot be used. OCTOZIN is harmless to invertebrates and algae when used as directed. You will require three separate days of treatment to complete the course.

OCTOZIN is active for up to 3 days after the last day of use. Although internal parasites are destroyed instantly, external signs of improvement to the fish may take up to 7 days.
