5mm is monster size for a pod! Are you sure?

Minus any magnification from my 8mm glass panels, say 3-4mm? The one in the picture is the biggest of the lot.

I count around 8 of these 'juggernauts'; looking like beetles, they forage where the current is stronger and can swim really fast.

Got no idea if they're safe coz none of my clowns seem to be interested in them too.

Anyone got anything like this?

newdamsel: Yep :)

Probably becoz i got sick of looking at still corals.

My favorite coral is still xenia becoz of the way it animates.

Im not even aiming for a clean looking tank (ive been skimmer-less)

rather .. i feel its natural to have visible microalgae around

I could spend longer time starring at pods doing their business than looking at corals sometimes.

I couldn't agree more, the diversity of life beyond the fish and corals is pretty amazing, ever see a worm in the rocks stick it ###### out for a dump? :P ... little pellets which my clowns mistaken for krill I feed them...hehehe

These 'jugs' bull its way around and either trampling over or eating smaller pods in its path.

There're little green elongated ones on the sandbed, but my camera is too crappy to capture it.

I get dizzy staring hard through the glass...:blink::blink:

Zerocool - think there's a thread somewhere on these parasitic pods, do a search

anyone else has similar experience?

Haa Haa, lucky me. My mandrain sleeps in the front of the tank. Scopped him out easily this morning , and pluck the huge buggy from my mandrain.

Boy was he stuborn!

Now in a plastic container... Should i fry / roast / steam / dry him??? :whistle:whistle

My revenge now !! :evil::evil:

I have shitload of them crawling all over my sand, rocks, and even my powerhead ...

I spend hours looking into my refugium; there are weirder things there like ghostly white snails and orange sponge-like things on my cauerpa ...

I'm not sure about crabs eating pods, I do hear my renegade pistol 'snapping', maybe at those 'beetles'?

Rumour> Wa, your live sand really live huh? But I guess if they're good for the tank then you're already set..cos mine so far very very pathetic in terms of population..*sigh*. I like the way you put it: 'weirder things' :D that's so funny. I don't hear any snapping sounds from my tank ley..so don't think could be a pistol shrimp. Maybe all the pods climbed out of my tank in the middle of the night and went home..

Barracuda> Hey, that's not weird, that's cool. I wish I had clams growing on my rock too. <_<
