Keeping Flame Angel and Coral Beauty

Recommended Posts

Hi, been out of marine scene for almost 2years. Now got spare time to restart this hobby. Using my old planted 2ft cabinet tank as a FOWLR setup.

My questions is can the flame angel live happily with the coral beauty?

Also intend to add a common clown,a firefish and 2 cleaner shrimps.

I've yet to get sand and LR, any advice where to get. Heard now different boss at Marine Life(last time go there during 2002 World Cup).

1 other equipment is a protein skimmer. Also a fan or two since my tank comes with a hood. I mod the lights to 2x36w PL tubes.

Thanks

Most LFS should have coral sand. Just pick a grade you want, i think grade 1 or 2 would be good.

Liverocks can be found at the fishfarms, LFS not sure though, some have some don't have.

If you stay in the East, E*quarist's P*ace and the Pasir Ris fishfarms will have.

Those LFS near Farmart should also have.

I think fighting may occur, read that not more than 1 dwarf angel(the type of angels which both flame angel and coral beauty fall under) should be kept in a tank. I think for a 2ft better to get either one not both, since its the territorial issues between both fish that cause fighting.

Wah, difficult to decide which to keep between these two. Read from another site it is possible to keep stripe type with solid colour type. But I prefer to have both of them.

typrobin, wasted man. I could do a faster cycling with those livesand. Any got some to spare? he..he..he.. :D

I have both Coral Beauty and Flame angel in my tank and I add them in at different time.

This is what I experience :

When I first add flame angel into the tank I was a bit apprenhensive as I already have a coral beauty, I was worried they will fight and they did but only for the first few hours when the coral beauty kept chasing and attacking my flame. lucky, my angels was about the same size...now they are happily swimming among each other :D and sometime even side by side

I depends on the size of the angels... sometimes when the old guy and the new guy is the same size, might not help too, the old guy could be real territiorial and keep whacking the new guy... being the same size helps the new guy alot.... If the new guy is bigger than the old guy, den you have a good change of suceeding.... :)

But certain angels like the rusty and coral beauty can be so agressive they bully a bigger size angel for days, and the new angel ends up stressed to death, or starved to death.... :)

IMHO,

i depends on many factors,

but i think the major one would have to be the size of your tank.

If there is more than enough swimming space

and hiding places for all your fish to

establish a territory, you shouldn't have a problem.

personally, i think a 2ft tank will accomodate

1 angel max

as for keeping dwarf angels in a reef,

it's hit and miss....

my flame angel has been behaving so far ;)

keeping my fingers crossed

Agree with the size of the tank, and the rocks... must have emough hiding places as angels normally loves hiding during introduction... :)

Bro,

Golden Pygmy angels are extremely timid and shy fish... So they tend to hide very much, u will be very lucky if u manage to have one dat doesn't hide.... And also, its diet is mainly of sponges and deritus... so try to train it to eat pellets or frozen BS, den u have a better chance of success!

Btw, where u bought it? And when u gonna let me view your tank?!!?? :) :) :)
