Lighting for 2ft tank

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I was thinking of setting up a 2ft tank...those common ones...

think is 2ft x 1ft x 1.5ft

I would like to know what kind of lighting should i get if i would like to keep the following

1)bubble tip anemone

2)rose anemone

3)mushrooms

4)clams

5)bubble lps

6)SPS??

I was thinking of 2x55W of PL lights....

you guys think that would be enough??

SPS and anemones? think if you can, better to go for a single 150W MH. But it all depends on your budget and what you wanna keep i guess. I am using 2 ft too, keeping maximas and LPS mainly, got myself a MH and its serving me well. But with MH, you gotta get chiller. so if you really have budget constraints, then maybe you can go for T5s instead? PLs light intensity is really not penetrating enough. ;)

T5s would be good.........

but how many watts would i need??

I heard about the new range of Dymax T5.

It seems for 2 ft, 1 set has 2x20W T5lights...

Would 2 sets (4 20W T5 tubes) be enough to provide for what i wanna keep??

or would i need 3 sets??

Not too keen on MH cause need chiller....pretty expensive....

Please advice...thank you!! :thanks:

hey... the dymax T5s are 20W right??

do they come in 2 x 24W configurations??

or do u mean i just change the bulbs??

the ballast can take it??

after your advice.....

i think i will decide on 2 sets of 2x20W of dymax T5 lights

that would give me 80W

can keep anemone and LPS right??

is this lighting possible for SPS and clams??

the dymax T5 are not good la, they spoil easily, must change the ballest, than will be ok, rather but those from Glare

True, i wouldn't trust dymax too... dun think they last. Think your safer bet is still the 24W T5s. If you wanna keep clams and LPS, might as well get something better, if not you will need to upgrade in the future, you will end up wasting even more money that way.
