Lighting for 2ft tank

Hi all

I was thinking of setting up a 2ft tank...those common ones...

think is 2ft x 1ft x 1.5ft

I would like to know what kind of lighting should i get if i would like to keep the following

1)bubble tip anemone

2)rose anemone

3)mushrooms

4)clams

5)bubble lps

6)SPS??

I was thinking of 2x55W of PL lights....

you guys think that would be enough??

it'll be better if u can use t5 lighting... PLs are too hot and also the light intensity is not strong enough

and also.. try not to keet this 2 anemone together as rose anemone is famous for their sting..

SPS and anemones? think if you can, better to go for a single 150W MH. But it all depends on your budget and what you wanna keep i guess. I am using 2 ft too, keeping maximas and LPS mainly, got myself a MH and its serving me well. But with MH, you gotta get chiller. so if you really have budget constraints, then maybe you can go for T5s instead? PLs light intensity is really not penetrating enough.

I heard about the new range of Dymax T5.

It seems for 2 ft, 1 set has 2x20W T5lights...

Would 2 sets (4 20W T5 tubes) be enough to provide for what i wanna keep??

or would i need 3 sets??

Not too keen on MH cause need chiller....pretty expensive....

most ppl will put as many t5 as they can on top of the tank..

Aim for at least 4 tubes and decide what kind of combination you want to get the best effect. can try 4x24W too...

or do u mean i just change the bulbs??

yeap it comes with the extentions on the side for you to "hang" onto the hood of the tank. (=

I can't remember the price as well. all I can say is that its less than $300.

im using 50/50 pl 55 watt and actinic pl 55 wat and 15 wat 10 000k. think in shanging the fl to t5s. my clams are showing growth

IMHO since u're juz setting up, can drop the idea of sps n anemones.

Can plan for them when u have gain experience n a matured tank.

True, i wouldn't trust dymax too... dun think they last. Think your safer bet is still the 24W T5s. If you wanna keep clams and LPS, might as well get something better, if not you will need to upgrade in the future, you will end up wasting even more money that way.
