Joe, what p$mp is this running on?

That was built as a dual beckett ..... supposed to be fed by 2 MD 55s...

However since running it, realise that a single MD 55 on one beckett is giving the unit really cool results....

Most probably doing single becketts for the above from now on......

Hi Joe_P,

How's your dual beckett skimmer doing, you are using the 55RLT pump, what was the initail water level that you set on the riser?

I have my diy beckett just hook up, using Iwaki 55RLT, but I found the bubles is not very intense.

Any advise?

Cheers! :whistle:whistle

Anthony, your skimmer mate looks good, what pump are you using?

My does not look intense, the bubbles is not thick enough.

Cheers  :whistle  :whistle

u need at least 18" height reaction chamber. my total ht is around 42". intend to extend higher.

using resun md55 to run it.

(do u mind to post a pic of ur ETS Gemini 800 downdraft skimmer skimmate?. :whistle )

Anthony, my skimmer total height is 32 in, is correct to say the bubbles look diluted when the riser is taller and bigger, my looks quite diluted.

Any advise?

Did you check the beckett nozzle? There could be stuff inside it....

This evening I popped into Iwarna and the two single beckett skimmers there... one skimmer had one rubber band inside the nozzle and the other had a strip of long plastic inside the other nozzle! Inspite of these obstructions, the skimmers were still producing good foam!

I noticed that user unfamiliarity and incorrect tuning made one of the skimmer's water level to be at the halfway mark in the reaction chamber.... I helped to resite the pump and solved the previous self-priming problem.

What pump are you using coz both the Iwarna skimmers made by the Reef Maniac, Joe_P, is being driven by just one Iwaki MX-70 and each skimmer body is milk white! And there was a large dirty cuppacinno quality foam ball at the collection cup within minutes of operation. ;)

Hi Chipson,

did you include a air inlet into your beckett housing??

Cos the picture you posted seems to indicate your nozzle not receiving enough air to churn out foam...

thats what happens when I shut off the valves to my beckett housing...

You will also find that by playing around with the tuning of air into the beckett housing, you get difference kinds of results... ;)

Hi AT, the boss, Anthony and Joe_p,

Thank you very much for your advices and suggestions.

I have found out the problem, I have reduced my nozzle output to pressured rated pipe, which impeded the flow and created a back pressure on the beckett.

I have changed to the normal schedule 40 instead of schedule 80. The skimmer is producing form after only less than 20 minutes.

Here is the attached picture.

Thanks you one more time :peace::peace:

Cheers :whistle:whistle

Blueheaven,

I have used pressure rated schedule 80 pipe for mixing tower section (section from the black box to the mixing tower), its diameter is smaller than JS or Schedule 40 pipe, hence it created a back pressure, the form became diluted.

The problem is no longer there, as the skimmer has produced quite a fair bit of skimmate.
