i had just purchased a purple tip anemone ( dun know what name). anybody knows? My maroon won't go near it.

Today when i was changing water, i accidentally pour the whole mug of seawater directly into its mouth. Then i notice its mouth is open since then. Is it a bad sign?

i had another pink/red bubble tip (i think is bubble tip) currently hosting a maroon in the tank. Would the two sting one another?

Any pics around to confirm my anemone type??

Dun have a Digi cam..the white base anemone with purple tip is commonly avail in LFS. Tips are sharper (than bubble tip).

The buble tip is pinkish/redish with slightly brown base and had some green in them under actinic lights.

hi yzf,

Hard to identify the anemone just by discription. But please note that different fish will choose different host. Maroon & clark for example likes BTA. In fact BTA is readily accepted by most fish including pink anemone fish.

However, I also know that rose anemone is not popular with maroons and perculars.

"Hi yzf,is d anemone white in colour?If it is,maroon don't host it.Frm wat i know,skunk clown host it.FYI if d anemone mouth is inside out,than it's not a good sign."

Skunk clown host? Is the name of the anemone? The mouth is open.. not sure if its inside out...

No Bro, skunk clown is another fish.

By the way, is the anemone still opening or it is shrunken and closed?

If it is still open then the chances that it is doing fine is higher.

Also, if you were to touch the anemone the flesh will be firm but will leave your hand with some sticky and slimy chemical. If you do not experience that, then the chances that it is not doing well in higher.

The anemone could have been "burnt" by the salt mix if your salt concentration is too high.... i it closes up and swirvel all its tentacles in, u may have a problem... if the anemone is very hard and full of water in its body, be careful too, it may be getting ready to spew all its intestines out...

yah i also had the same problem... maybe is beacsue your tank is small and the water change u did was different in compsition with the water in the tank... so the anemone can't take the fluctation ... mine is a worst case than yours

is the anemone swell up ... maybe it is moving ... when my anemone wants to move it, swell up and float until the place it wants to settle .. then it will cling on to the rock ...

if u see the anemone melting away then taht means its dying so better taht it out fast .. othere that that ... it should be okay ..

The purple tip doesn't expand that much but the tentecles is still swelling.. not withering..
