Alkalinity = 7

Many thx...

This might be due to maturity of tank and the way the clown was caught. Is the poo white all these whiles?

Tank : 4 X 2 X 2 with low iron front panel and external overflow

Skimmer : BK SM200 with waste collector

Return Pumps : Red Dragon 6m3 and Ehiem 1262

FR : 2 X Deltec 509 & powered by AB2000

Nitrate Filter : Deltec NF 509 and tee off from AB2000

Calcium R'tor : Deltec PF 501 with RM secondary chamber

Kalkwasser R'tor : Deltec KM500

Chiller : Pansonic 1 HP Compressor with 20m titanium Coil

Wave Makers : 4 X Tunze 6055 with 7096 & Vortec MP40w

Controller : GHL Profilux

Lighting : ATI Powermodule 10 or 8 tubes

Water Top-up : Water Top-Up tank powered by Tunze Osmolator

External Monitor : American Pinpoint pH and Temp. Monitor for main tank and GHL Profilux Controller to measure temp, pH, Redox

Ozonizer : Sander C50

UV : Corallife 6x

I guess is due to my bacteria in the tank, currently only have 2L of seachem matrix and my tank is 50L.

Erm recently the poo is white, before that the colour is green and yellowish.

White poo mean they are stress or sick?

Hi there, could be internal parasites like ich or velvet causing the white poo. Happened to 3 of my clowns.... did not qt them from LFS. Put direct into dt. All died from velvet. Now fallowing for 3 months...

Just checked the symptoms of velvet, all hit except for the fine yellow or rusty colored point....

Symptoms

  • Scratches against hard objects
  • Fish is lethargic
  • Loss of appetite and weight loss
  • Rapid, labored breathing
  • Fins clamped against the body
  • Fine yellow or rusty colored film on the skin

so for velvet, i need to treat it with cupramine or Prazi gold?

Yeah man. Pls do it quick too. Velvet strikes hard and fast. Can do a freshwater dip before the copper treatment.

Treatment can at times stress them and.speed up the death. So far, little success for me.

agree, I guess for those fast and deadly disease treatment wouldn't help much...

Fish can normally take high level of nitrates. There is a big misconception here. Nitrate is not the killer. In fact. Nitrate is a fertiliser, good for photosynthetic corals. The killer is nitrite or ammonia, but for your case it’s low. Parameters is not the problem except your pH is on the low side. Dose some sodium bicarbonate, you can buy these at Super market known as baking soda. Dose it till the pH jumps back to 8. But I doubt pH will cause your fish to be like this. It is highly likely that it’s parasite.

You must always copper treat all fishes before adding them in tank. Or rather copper treat all the fishes as soon as you bring them home from lfs.

Besides treating fishes, you need to place in pvc pipes for the fishes to hide in. Hiding will lessen stress for the fish and recover better.

One more bite the dust today...

Solo77 bro is right, they are hit by brook...

Now all the fish is gone what should I do will the tank now? How to eliminate the disease completely from my tank?

1) Remove all the water, start all over again?

2) Dose cupramine to kill the disease?

My tank got no rock, no sand just have seachem matrix and marine pure sphere

Just let it run to mature more. Dont add clown for now(1-3 mths)as this disease attk clown only.  if the photo shows yr actual tank, it may seem too clean.

Suggest you put in some rocks.

For fish, many factors causing death - healthy specimen, how they are being handled, stress, aggression in the tank, maturity of yr tank, etc.

I dont use copper in my reefing experiences. Suggest if you want to use, only big angels. Other fishes generally dont carry such fatal and contagcious dieases.

As pointed by polar, new fishes are sensitive to ph. Once they are seasoned, they can endure tough conditions.

Below is my fowlr setup at parent plc. Looks dirty but fishes are doing ok. Just rocks, agonite sand to stable ph, skimmer, marine pure and biohome media.

Oh. ... then my clowns also most likely died from brook. In this case, solo77, can I fallow the tank with inverts inside? I have one blue leg hermit crab and one blue tuxedo urchin inside.

Oh ok, so I don't need to treat the tank water just let it run by itself... Will not buy any clown for the moment... maybe will look for goby or blenny

my PH do fluctuate between 7.6 to 8, I guess is because I do a lot of water changes...

below are my tank setup, the one you see is I put them into the plastic tank liao...

If use copper, cant add inverts. For hermit, they can prey on yr snail, do note.

From this photo, i felt there might be not enough bacterial to be house in the tank. A few rocks might help to maintain stable. Just my thought.

Just now went to the LFS and the uncle told me it is ammonia/nitrite poison not brook... :o

@Solo77 yap, my tank only about 1.5 old. I cycled 3 weeks before putting the fish

@stormrider agree, already brought the maxspect bio-sphere and will be putting into the tank hopefully can house more bacteria...
