Blenny,

I guess its a type of "switch" per say. Its a 5" long orange coated gadget you put into your sump. I think one end must be linked to a submersible pump in your fresh water topup container. When the water in the sump falls below a pre-determined level, the sensor picks that up & automatically signals the pump to pump water from the container into the sump. Works on same principle as the TUBBY.
