Mind to share why you split the return pump? For redundancy? Or is there too much resistance by your chiller?

Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

One is for redundancy, second is cos I Wan to use valve to control my return speed without affecting chiller flow so as not to compromise on chiller efficiency. My reason to control is as the overflow and drain is too fast, it creates a huge siphoning sound with my Wife find it too noisy. Hahaa

Tank update...after two weeks of full equipment running... is the first diatom bloom period... black out the tank for two days followed by putting back lights on for no more than 3hrs a day. Added some anemones and my crown fish hosted on two of them hahaa.. Leting my tank stablise and gona start adding more corals with movement (I love to see my tank full of movement) hahaa once it is stocked up by a bit, look to start the Red Sea dosing regime and see how the tank goes from there.

Tank parameters (tested thrice a week)

1. Ammonia - 0 - 0.2
2. Nitrate - 10ish
3. Kh - 8.6
4. PO4 - not tested yet

Re-arranged my sump to fit in my new toy haha... now first compartment are filled with crushed corals, cheoto, Sea grapes and live rocks, second compartment is skimmer and reactor, last compartment are 2 marine pure blocks and one bag of biohome and 2 return pump.....

Seriously putting in media getting the flow to achieve a gentle tumble of gfo is never easier... running AF zeomix, carbon and phosphate minus in the reactor...

After 3 mths running on AF balling method, can see that my corals are getting happier, water getting more stable...

Now my routine,

1. Monthly TOP up/ water change with NSW
2. Fortnightly water change with AF reef salt (target to get into 3 months 1 water change)
3. Dosing of AF component 1,2,3
4. Daily 3 drops of Pro Bio S and NP Pox
5. Coral ABEV on a 6 day schedule, Sunday is rest day
6. AF pytho mix once weekly, starting on AF Power Food this week!
7. Running AF Zeomix, Carbon and Phosphate minus in a Nyos 2.0 reactor

Hey bro, can see how do you combine the 3 AF filtration media into a Nyos reactor?

Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

Zeomix at the bottom cos every 6 weeks I will replace half

Carbon and phosphate minus on TOP. I will put half the recommended dose of phosphate minus so that it exhaust roughly abt 6-8weeks, that’s when I change both carbon n phosphate minus.

Lastly adjust flow so that the phosphate minus will tumble

Hmmm did you remove the sponge below and put two layers of sponge above? Because can’t see the sponge on the lower layer

Sent from Singapore Reef Club mobile app

Yes since the bottom I am running the larger zeomix media, I use both sponge in the middle, separated by the purple compartment.
