Why Calcium level in my tank don't drop???

Hi all,

I am abt to get a calcium reactor but I am puzzled.... as in the calcium level in my tank do not drop, at most only varies minus 20ppm. my tank is a mixed reef system with mainly lps, sps, rics, clams......

i can c that my clams r growing as they r growing bigger with new deposits on their shells. sps r mostly colouring up and some r oso growing...... most lps and rics open up well.

i am dripping kalk mixed with vinegar solution in the night when the lights r off.......

wonder should i go ahead and buy a Ca Reactor......

my specs as of today:

SG= 1.023

ammonia= safe

nitrate= 25 to 500ppm (abt 35ppm)

phosphate= 0.03ppm

calcium= 460ppm

kh= 9dkh

ph= 8.3

all test r conducted at abt 1.00am. lights on. tank specs r as per signature.

ammonia test using seachem ammonia alert

nitrate, calcium, phosphate tests using salifert

kh test using sera

ph test using hanna test pen

SG test using ATC refractometer

do a search on acetic acid..... u should be able to find some answers....

from wat i gather from you guys the other time, when u are dripping kalk, why would the Calcium drop? strange dat u r asking the question... if you are using Kalk from Reefez, its 50% calcium carbonate and 50% calcium hydroxide wat...

Why would you need a calcium reactor when your calcium level is constantly at 460ppm level? On the other hand, I agree with you that is strange, with sps, clams & etc, you can maintain this level by just dripping kalk. I suggest you try with another test kit.
