Mine also hit 30. I looking for second hand chiller for my 2 feet tank. Currently using fan. But evaporation is crazy and due to work someday I don't get to top up. So the salinity drops alot.

Quick way, I can't think of other ideas other than fan.

Which shop this? Can last how long?

You can get these at fishing tackle shops too. But generally they’re pretty useless if you leave them out in the open. Exposing them to room temp is not gonna be useful, they’re for keeping things cold for 24 hours when placed in a cooler.

My Guess is a couple of hours or so if out in the open

Yap, leaving it in the open will not work....

Ytd night i try to freeze a bottle of ice and put in the tank for testing, less than 20 min the ice in the bottle melt completely and the temp only drop by 0.5c...

I guess need to put the iced bottle in a plastic container then seal with cover then let the container float on the water to make the temperature last longer... got time will do this testing and share if is working...

@Jeebusai

I have done the below testing, hopefully can give you some ideas...

My conclusion is that ice bottle can only help bring down the temp, but to keep it constant I guess still need fan bah... so fan + ice bottle should be able to help provide a lower temp....

Test 1
--------------------------------------------------------
Outdoor Temp: 30c to 33c
Tank Start Temp: 31.8c
Tank End Temp: 30c

Ice Bottle A:
- 500ml (Ice melt completely in 20+ min)
- Temp drop from 31.8c to 30.9c within 1hrs, and stay

Ice Bottle B:
- 500ml (Ice melt completely in 20+ min)
- Temp drop from 30.9c to 30c within 45 min, and stay

Test 2
-------------------------------------------------------
Outdoor Temp: 27c to 30c
Tank Start Temp: 32c
Tank End Temp: 29.9c

Ice Bottle:
- 500ml x 2 (Ice melt completely in 35+ min)
- Temp drop from 32c to 29.9c within 1hrs, and stay

**Bottle is put inside a plastic bag and fill up with water to cover the bottle as to provide a cooling factor

Thanks for the very detailed experiment bro. Gave me a very good idea of how long the small 500cc freezes bottle can last. Initially thought it could last longer than I thought. Will freeze more just in case! Thanks again!

Hi,

Just sharing another option to consider.

For small / QT tank, probably can explore some products similiar to : https://www.chillsolutions.com/products/csxc-1-aquarium-chiller

Currently using CSXC-1 on my nano for 2 months. So far able to keep my 10g between 25~28 degrees with the recent warm weather with minimum water topup and electricity.

Oh ok..I think maybe I give it a go..but it's only temporary solution. Long run for Singapore weather need a chiller. Have to get one without my wife knowing. Later she complain that I spend so much.emoji23.pngemoji23.pngemoji23.png

Hi,

If you're looking for a budget chiller, I have a spare AL60 to let go. Upgraded chiller recently due to the hot weather, so only used for a month or so. Can pm me if you're interested. Was able to keep my 2ft between around 27 degrees in the hot weather.

Cheers!
