Persistently High Nitrate levels

So as the title states, I've been dealing with high nitrate levels in my tank for some time now. No matter how many water changes I perform, it doesn't seem to go away. Could it be that the rock is leaching nitrates into my tank? If so, is there any way to remove the nitrates from the rock? Also is there any kind of filter media that you would reccommend for dealing with this?

Water change will never bring your nitrate level low, you may get it low right after WC, but it will go back up the next day very quickly.
You need to know why your nitrate is high at the first place, what kind of filtration system you have, what system you are running, how much rock you use in your tank, how many fishes you have as in bio load....
The fundamental is to know what is your source of nitrate and how to tackle that source.
To reduce nitrate, you need to export it out faster than the tank bio loads producing it.

ah alright I think I'll look into it, but I can start with a larger water change to temporarily stave off the issues it has caused

The large WC is not going to help, and may destabilise the tank.
Your WC regime should be weekly 20% instead.

Take a picture of your tank and sump, maybe use bio pellet if there’s space.

how long has your tank been running? what type of rock is it?  @Mike Stone is right.  please share details of your bioload, amount of rock, filtration system you're using.

Water change will only solve your high nitrate temporaily. It will come back as soon as you think it is ok.

To remove your nitrate you first need a skimmer to export what is not needed as fast as possible.

You can lower your nitrate by running biopellet in FR but you cannot control it as you require.

You want control nitrate dose carbon and bacteria.

Carbon like vinegar, sugar or vinegar/sugar mixture or vodka.

You can also use ATS or chaeto reactor or refugium.

Or you can combine them for better control.

Water change is never your answer to nitrate problem unless you doing very large 

water change like 90 to 100% daily

Just run reef octopus bio sphere , mine dropped from 100 to zero in 2 mths. Keep em topped up. And placed before a skimmer. These balls are basically solid carbon food sources. Same concept as vodka and sugar dosing.but much easier. I change like 10% water every 6 to 12 mths just for the fun of it. Bioload one big yellow tang and 8 small to mid size fishes in a 3 feet lps tank.

If at all possible, I will not recommend the use of carbon dosing unless you are very sure what you are doing , plus you have a good and effective skimmer. Otherwise Cyano and Dinos will be the next concern.
The use of ATS or refugium to reduce Nitrate is a more natural way to tackle the problem.
